Goblin: Yoo In Na Fashion

Kim Sun (played by Yoo In Na), aka Sunny, is probably the best boss ever. She cares about her employees and does not micromanage. Although initially she’s stressed out about the lack of customers, she eventually prevails after getting a visit from the Goblin. She is wildly fashionable. Because she manages a chicken restaurant, she’s able to get away with more casual styles. However, she pulls off the boss lady look no problem.

For her boss look, Sunny chooses well fitted professional wear that have an edge to them. When she wears a blazer, she either adds a skinny belt that modernizes the look or wear the blazer as an overcoat for a chic feel.

When she’s not on the clock, she has fun with colorful bright overcoats. This leads to the Goblin calling one of her looks (image on the right) as a ‘fried egg’. Because Sunny is light hearted most of the time, the bright colors complement her personality.

We love the way Sunny accessorizes her looks. Her fashion pieces are always the latest trends. Check out her chic sunglasses and tassel earrings here:

Lee Jong Suk as Kang Chul

In W, Lee Jong Suk is a playboy who built a media empire based on his search for his parents’ killer. He is (initially) loved by the media and the public. As a young established entrepreneur, he does not shy away from attires that have a bit of attitude. Although his style is business formal, he likes to have fun with his suits. Not only does he experiment with colors, he also tries different patterns. Keep an eye on his suits’ line patterns. These really elegant lines are simple in design but really elevate the suits’ sophistications. While his business look is polished, his normal day to day look is also on point. He normally keeps it simple with a white button up shirt and jeans. However, we noticed one look that could use a bit help. When Kang Chul was on the run, he started wearing ripped jeans. Although we understandd he’s distressed about the murder, there’s no reason to wear jeans that are also distressed.

Check out Kang Chul’s many suit looks here:

Fashion Impressions of Age of Youth

Age of Youth tells the coming of age story for five women who rent a house together. Four of the women attend college, although they are in different years. The drama follows these women as they navigate through love, work, school, and the various paths of life.

Hwayoung plays Kang Yi Na, the only one who is not in school. As the drama progresses, the rest of the house finds out that Yi Na is not in school and is actually taking on lovers in exchange for money. Yi Na flaunts her femininity and embraces the effect she has on men. As such, she is comfortable wearing body hugging clothes and doesn’t take issue to revealing skin. However, as she is targeting the richer clientele, she still keeps it classy. Check out her mature sexy wardrobe here:

Han Ye Ri plays Yoon Jin Myung, who is the eldest senior in the house with Yi Na. Unlike Yi Na, Jin Myung is not a beauty and works multiple part time jobs in order to pay for school and her brother’s medical bills. Between her jobs and school, she has no time for love or fashion. Her wardrobe is student minimalist. We rarely see her in something other than tshirt with an open button up shirt.  Her go to hairstyle is a no frills pony tail.

See Ye Ri’s heads down student wardrobe here:

Seungyeon plays Jung Ye Eun, a girl who seems to have it all. She attends a good school and has a steady boyfriend. As she doesn’t have too much stress in her life, her style is innocent feminine. She wears a lot of pink and is not afraid to accessorize with trendy bunny year headbands. Although she also wears short skirts, they tend to be more cute than sexy. We soon find out that her life is not as perfect as she puts on, and we are interested to see how her wardrobe changes as her story line develops.

See Seungyeon’s wardrobe here:

Park Eun Bin plays gregarious Song Ji Won. Ji Won is the life of every party, however, her loud behavior has caused her to be unlucky in love.  She works part time in a journalism office so her style, although trendy, is still kept business casual.

See Ji Won’s wardrobe here:

Park Hye Soo plays Yoo Eun Jae, a naive lower classmen who is very innocent in terms of love and life. She is a quiet sort and seems to want to blend in as much as possible. She’s purposely quiet because she has a mysterious secret. Her look is similar to Ye Ri as a matter of fact.

Tiki Fashion in ‘Doctors’ Kdrama

One of the best dressed characters in “Doctors” is Hye Jung’s friend, Chun Soon Hee. Soon Hee has always had a bubbly personality. As the principal’s daughter, her parents berated her for not being more studious. She didn’t have any true friends until Hye Jung came along. Since the first time they met, they have been loyal best friends. Unlike Hye Jung, who had a troubled childhood, Soon Hee lived a pretty sheltered life. She’s like a ray of sunshine to Hye Jung’s doom and gloom.  Soon Hee now owns a tiki bar right next to the hospital where Hye Jung works. The tiki bar perfectly fits Soon Hee’s innocent and fun personality. Adding to the carefree atmosphere of the tiki bar, Soon Hee wears fun pieces like bunny ears and off the shoulder shirts. We also like her floral inclinations whether it’s a floral print shirt or a flower in the hair. Makes us think about going on vacation.   See Soon Hee’s fun looks here:

Uncontrollably Fond: Couple Fashion

Joon Young (played by Kim Woo Bin) and Noh Eul (played by Suzy Bae) share a complicated past. They previously knew each other but became separated due to life complications. Now that fate has brought them back together, Joon Young is determined not to make the same mistake again. Despite constant bickering, we already see hints that these two complement each other quite well.

Because this drama was completely filmed before release, the drama takes place in the winter. It seems odd to see people so bundled up when South Korea is in the middle of a record heat wave. Although it makes us sweat just looking at long sleeves, we noticed that Joon Young and Noh Eul share similar taste in grey cashmere sweaters. Check out their twin look here:

A pivotal moment in the drama is when Ji Tae (played by Lim Ju Hwan) let go of Noh Eul’s hand because he doesn’t want to be exposed by the paparazzi. Joon Young seizes the opportunity and takes Noh Eul’s hand to guide her out of the crowd.  Unconsciously, Joon Young and Noh Eul’s wardrobe match in beige color while Ji Tae stands out in his all black ensemble. He already looks like the odd one out in the trio. Check out the set up here:

Uncontrollably Fond: Incognito Style

Uncontrollably Fond is full of characters who have to hide their true identities. Choi Ji Tae (played by Lim Ju Hwan) has to hide his entitled background when he’s with Noh Eul (played by Suzy). Joon Young (played by Kim Woo Bin) is a famous actor, so he has to disguise himself whenever he is outside. For a brief period, Noh Eul had to disguise herself from Joon Young’s fans when Joon Young showed her affection during a performance. Even though all three has had to hide themselves, each one does it in their own unique way.

When Ji Tae disguises himself, he goes all out and does not leave any trace of his wealth. Because he doesn’t want his family to find out about his excursions, he tries to blend into the background and usually wears darker colors. He usually wears a black cap and thick glasses to cover his face. Because the drama was filmed in the winter, he usually wears a dark colored hoodie with a vest. If you bumped to him in the streets, you wouldn’t even know he’s there.

Joon Young has been famous for many years now so he knows how to blend in without going extreme like Ji Tae. He usually just covers his face with the scarf. It’s the perfect disguise because it’s winter time and everyone wears a scarf.

It’s clear that Noh Eul does not know how to hide herself. When she finds out she’s public enemy #1 to Joon Young’s fans, she decides to go into disguise to avoid anyone’s notice. However, she decides the best disguise is a bright pink hat with sun glasses. The combination will make anyone take a double look on the street.

Doctors Tie Trends

Ever since the 2016 landmark drama ‘Descendants of the Sun’, hospital dramas have been on the rise. It’s been interesting to see the different fashion that the doctors in various dramas have chosen to feature. In ‘Descendants of the Sun’, the doctors were mainly in the field so their clothes were for the most part casual. In ‘Doctors’, the main characters are younger. They’re in the transition between residents to attendings. Because these doctors are in an urban setting, the doctors dress more formal than the doctors in ‘Descendants of the Sun’.  One of the first things we noticed were that the ties that both male and female doctors wear. Below are three tie trends we’ve noticed from ‘Doctors’:

#1: Scarf Ties

Scarfs are making a huge comeback. Seo Woo (played by Lee Sung Kyung) wears a pretty white scarf that matches with her top. Hye Jung (played by Park Shin Hye) wears a dark maroon scarf. The colors are almost reflective of the dark childhood she had while growing up with separated families.

#2. Plastic Tie Knots

Yoon Do (played by Yoon Gyun Sang) is the up and rising attending who is very formal. It’s clear from his car and house that he’s used to the nicer things in life. We noticed his ties with the plastic tops. Although the plastic piece may look cheap on most people, he is able to pull off the look with class.

#3. Colorful Ties

The colorful ties that Ji Hoon (played by Kim Rae Won) is such a nice reflection of his playful personality. Since it’s summertime, the colorful ties just adds to the light heart atmosphere that Ji Hoon creates.
