Jealousy Incarnate Fashion Watch

We are obsessed with the banana sweatshirt that Gong Hyo Jin wore in The Jealousy Incarnate. This sweatshirt is so playful and perfectly fits Na Ri’s  (played by Gong Hyo Jin) personality. It’s not a coincidence that she wears it when visiting Hwa Shin in the hospital. She tries to take care of him when he is trying to get away from her. It could have been a very serious moment in the drama but the sweatshirt makes the scene a bit lighter.

Purchase the sweatshirt here. See Gong Hyo Jin’s look below:

The K2 Fashion Impressions

K2 is one of the most exciting thriller dramas that we’ve seen in 2016. The story line is both mysterious and aggressive. Ji Chang Wook plays Kim Je Ha, who was previously a deployed soldier. After losing his girlfriend, he suffers from PTSD and is trying to just stay alive. As a past solider, he doesn’t really bother with clothes. He is usually walking around with a simple t-shirt or sleeveless under shirt. The only time when we see him not look homeless is when he breaks into Yoojin’s house. There we see him wearing a leather jacket over a simple undershirt. This look is simple but still able to convey the ‘back off’ message.

Check out Je Ha’s look here:

Yoona plays Anna, a child woman who is stuck in political battle between her father and stepmother. She is left to grow up on her own in a tightly controlled environment. As a result, her demeanor has a childlike innocence. The wardrobe artist purposely dress Anna up like a doll. In the below shot in particular, we see Yoona in a sleep gown next to a teddy bear. It’s almost a real life reenactment of a doll house.

See Yoona as a living doll here:

Age of Youth Transitions

As Age of Youth progressed, several women in the drama go through major changes in their lives. Their new attitude towards life is reflected in the clothes they wear.

Yoon Jin Myung (played by Han Ye Ri) is no longer burdened by her family’s financial debt. Previously she didn’t do anything but study and work so she can pay her brother’s hospital bills. Her drab wardrobe was mainly dark colors because she didn’t have time to spend on vanity.  When this debt is lifted off her shoulder, we see her begin to rotate vibrant colors and trendier styles into her wardrobe. Although these changes are subtle because she is still financially strapped, they are significant. The wardrobe lets us know that Jin Myung finally gets to enjoy some of her youth.

The most adorable transition has to be Eun Jae (played by Park Hye Soo). She has opened herself up to Jong Yeol and finally accepted his attention. Because of her past, she previously dressed conservatively so that she doesn’t stand out at all. After she made the decision to go out with Jong Yeol, she wore a skirt for the first time. Both Ye Eun (played by Seung Yeon) and and Ji Won (played by Park Eun Bin) are surprised Eun Jae even owns a skirt. See her feminine makeover here:

Although all the girls change in some way, Yi Na (played by Hwayoung) went through the biggest change. Once she started having a new appreciation for her life, she immediately stopped escorting and went out to get a retail job. For the first time, she has to watch her money and work in retail. Thus, it makes sense that for the first time, we see Yi Na looking…not spectacular. Don’t get us wrong. She still wears body fitting shirts and is still overall sexy. However, her new clothes aren’t the haute style that we’ve grown accustom to seeing her in. Check out her full transition here:

Fashion Impressions of Age of Youth

Age of Youth tells the coming of age story for five women who rent a house together. Four of the women attend college, although they are in different years. The drama follows these women as they navigate through love, work, school, and the various paths of life.

Hwayoung plays Kang Yi Na, the only one who is not in school. As the drama progresses, the rest of the house finds out that Yi Na is not in school and is actually taking on lovers in exchange for money. Yi Na flaunts her femininity and embraces the effect she has on men. As such, she is comfortable wearing body hugging clothes and doesn’t take issue to revealing skin. However, as she is targeting the richer clientele, she still keeps it classy. Check out her mature sexy wardrobe here:

Han Ye Ri plays Yoon Jin Myung, who is the eldest senior in the house with Yi Na. Unlike Yi Na, Jin Myung is not a beauty and works multiple part time jobs in order to pay for school and her brother’s medical bills. Between her jobs and school, she has no time for love or fashion. Her wardrobe is student minimalist. We rarely see her in something other than tshirt with an open button up shirt.  Her go to hairstyle is a no frills pony tail.

See Ye Ri’s heads down student wardrobe here:

Seungyeon plays Jung Ye Eun, a girl who seems to have it all. She attends a good school and has a steady boyfriend. As she doesn’t have too much stress in her life, her style is innocent feminine. She wears a lot of pink and is not afraid to accessorize with trendy bunny year headbands. Although she also wears short skirts, they tend to be more cute than sexy. We soon find out that her life is not as perfect as she puts on, and we are interested to see how her wardrobe changes as her story line develops.

See Seungyeon’s wardrobe here:

Park Eun Bin plays gregarious Song Ji Won. Ji Won is the life of every party, however, her loud behavior has caused her to be unlucky in love.  She works part time in a journalism office so her style, although trendy, is still kept business casual.

See Ji Won’s wardrobe here:

Park Hye Soo plays Yoo Eun Jae, a naive lower classmen who is very innocent in terms of love and life. She is a quiet sort and seems to want to blend in as much as possible. She’s purposely quiet because she has a mysterious secret. Her look is similar to Ye Ri as a matter of fact.

Tiki Fashion in ‘Doctors’ Kdrama

One of the best dressed characters in “Doctors” is Hye Jung’s friend, Chun Soon Hee. Soon Hee has always had a bubbly personality. As the principal’s daughter, her parents berated her for not being more studious. She didn’t have any true friends until Hye Jung came along. Since the first time they met, they have been loyal best friends. Unlike Hye Jung, who had a troubled childhood, Soon Hee lived a pretty sheltered life. She’s like a ray of sunshine to Hye Jung’s doom and gloom.  Soon Hee now owns a tiki bar right next to the hospital where Hye Jung works. The tiki bar perfectly fits Soon Hee’s innocent and fun personality. Adding to the carefree atmosphere of the tiki bar, Soon Hee wears fun pieces like bunny ears and off the shoulder shirts. We also like her floral inclinations whether it’s a floral print shirt or a flower in the hair. Makes us think about going on vacation.   See Soon Hee’s fun looks here:

Uncontrollably Fond: Couple Fashion

Joon Young (played by Kim Woo Bin) and Noh Eul (played by Suzy Bae) share a complicated past. They previously knew each other but became separated due to life complications. Now that fate has brought them back together, Joon Young is determined not to make the same mistake again. Despite constant bickering, we already see hints that these two complement each other quite well.

Because this drama was completely filmed before release, the drama takes place in the winter. It seems odd to see people so bundled up when South Korea is in the middle of a record heat wave. Although it makes us sweat just looking at long sleeves, we noticed that Joon Young and Noh Eul share similar taste in grey cashmere sweaters. Check out their twin look here:

A pivotal moment in the drama is when Ji Tae (played by Lim Ju Hwan) let go of Noh Eul’s hand because he doesn’t want to be exposed by the paparazzi. Joon Young seizes the opportunity and takes Noh Eul’s hand to guide her out of the crowd.  Unconsciously, Joon Young and Noh Eul’s wardrobe match in beige color while Ji Tae stands out in his all black ensemble. He already looks like the odd one out in the trio. Check out the set up here:

W: First Impressions

New Kdrama ‘W’ has a refreshing plot about two people falling in love despite being in different dimensions. In the drama, Lee Jong Suk plays Kang Chul, who is a self made player with a complicated past. He lives in a manga world, which is based off of modern day Seoul. Han Hyo Joo plays Oh Yeon Joo, a doctor in the real world who is the daughter of a famous manga artist, who created the world that Kang Chul lives in. Big disruptions are coming to the manga dimension and Yeon Joo gets sucked into the manga dimension in order to help Kang Chul.

Because Kang Chul is the main character in a manga, his style has a classic manga extra flair. For example, who else can pull off a bright blue blazer? Only in the manga world can a character pull this look off. Even though he has been successful in business, his main focus has always been finding the person who murdered the rest of his family. As such, his style is street casual, not what you’d expect from an entrepreneur. Check out his manga inspired look here:

Yeon Joo is a doctor so she has to wear conservative clothes to appear more professional in front of patients. However, as she moves into Kang Chul’s world, she doesn’t practice medicine since she’s considered a fugitive. As Kang Chul’s faux fiancee, she has access to upgrade to a more luxurious wardrobe that doesn’t have as many restrictions as doctor gear. See her transformation here:
